Labor
The "Labor" is a discussion forum for current research projects. Although it is directed at pre-doc, doctoral and post-doc KHI students. We hope that this Laboratorio will be used as a tool to discuss the more ambiguous, problematic aspects of the various projects in addition to the examination of central theses and observations. Presentation forms which endorse this process are thus preferable, although this decision is left to the speaker in question. Active presentations are expressly encouraged as a result. The Labor invites free debate on works in progress. At the moment assistants from the two directorates present and supervise the lab in turn. This internal Laboratorio takes place usually once a month on a Wednesday. Interested parties are invited to contact Emanuele Lugli.

Ortstermin
The event places the particular location of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in the foreground and concentrates on objects and works of art in Florence. Sites chosen for visits will in many cases be ones that are normally inaccessible to the public or can only be visited on special application. The event is intended to supplement the KHI's LABOR Forum. In other words, the discussions on 'work in progress' begun in the lecture room will be continued by visiting the originals of the objects/works of art in question. The format also provides an opportunity to discuss with resident guest scholars their fields of research 'in situ'. The aim of the event, which is especially targeted at the circle of young up-and-coming researchers at the KHI, is to deepen the participants’ first-hand knowledge of objects and works of art, foster specialized art-historical dialogue, and profit from the knowledge of each individual in the group. The visits are usually held once each month, and are organized and led by Hana Gründler, Theresa Holler, Fabian Jonietz and Vera-Simone Schulz.

workshop series
The workshop series is aimed at the Institute’s younger academic members in addition to graduate and postgraduate members. Discussions, lectures by external academics, joint readings and short excursions and museum visits combine to provide participants with a unique platform for academic exchange. The workshop series focuses on a different theme every year. The workshop series is co-ordinated by Dr. Hannah Baader.
